BLESSING AND OPENING OF THE NEW PROVINCIAL HOUSE. 💬 0 👁 17
On 10th April 2026, we joyfully celebrated mass for the blessing and opening of the new Provincial House of the Oblates of the Assumption - East Africa. It was a special and meaningful day for us all.
The Holy Mass started at 10:30 a.m., led by the Most Rev. Archbishop Isaac Amani of Arusha, together with other priests who co-celebrated. Many people joined us, including religious men and women, invited guests, and engineers who helped in the construction. Together, we thanked God for this great achievement.
The Mass began with a procession, creating a prayerful atmosphere. During the celebration, our Provincial Superior was invited to read the message written on the commemorative plaque. This was followed by the official opening of the house, where the Archbishop received the keys and opened it officially. He then blessed water and sprinkled it on the house and on all of us as a sign of God’s blessing and protection. After this, the Mass continued with the singing of the Gloria.
In his homily, Archbishop Isaac Amani reminded us that each one of us is created differently and has special gifts from the Holy Spirit. He encouraged us to use these gifts to help one another and to build a strong community. He also spoke about the importance of leadership and asked us to support our leaders. He reminded us to remain firm in our faith and to live our promises faithfully.
After Holy Communion, we had a moment of adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. The Holy Eucharist was then placed in the tabernacle of the new chapel.
After the final blessing, we listened to speeches. The Provincial Superior spoke first, followed by the Parish Priest, and finally the Archbishop. They all shared words of thanks and encouragement. The Provincial Superior explained that the house was built to serve the leaders of the East African Province (Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, and Kenya) and to support the ongoing life and mission of the Oblate Sisters of the Assumption within the province and beyond.
After the Mass, we took group photos to remember the day. The archbishop also planted a tree as a sign of remembrance and growth. The celebration continued with the cutting of the cake and the opening of Shambeini. Finally, we shared a meal together, which marked the end of the celebration. People left at their own time.
It was truly a joyful and memorable day for all of us. The new Provincial House is not just a building, but a sign of our faith, unity, and God’s blessings.
